The rise and fall of Valparaíso’s rock scene between 2010 and 2015 is a distinctive and inspiring story about a generation of music lovers, often compared to cultural phenomena such as those that emerged in Manchester, Seattle, or 1960s New York. Landmarks such as La Cantera Bar, the Cochrane Building, and Acople Records became central to this nostalgic era of DIY music-making. Bands including Fatiga de Material, Cajitas Rectangulares, Kaffarenas, Ojorojo, Lisérgico, Umbría en Kalafate, Cola de Zorro, Marcel Duchamp, and Joven Abuelo, among others, were part of this vibrant, self-managed scene.
